This site takes that bill apart — the station's inspection fee, the state's certificate fee, and what legitimately moves the price between shops.
Every figure on this site is rendered from the Cal Smog Network canonical answer library, which is verified against public program sources — the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (bar.ca.gov), the California DMV (dmv.ca.gov), and the California Air Resources Board (arb.ca.gov). When the Bureau moves a number, the library moves first and this page follows automatically. SmogCheckCost is published under the Cal Auto Doors label and operated by Cal Smog Network, a California smog check station network.
The deal prices on the homepage are locked coupon rates published by each participating network station — what you see is what the counter honors, with no code to remember. The certificate fee is the state's, is always listed separately, and is only charged if your vehicle passes. This site never invents a price; station pricing lives with the station.
